And now the first page of the last chapter.

This evening see’s the first of our Emergence Surveys taking place. This is a bat and wild life survey being undertaken in the evening light. In order to proceed with further building works next winter. We are required to obtain a license from Natural England. (Survey reports and mitigation plans are required for development projects that could affect protected species, as part of getting planning permission or a mitigation licence. Surveys need to show whether protected species are present in the area or nearby, and how they use the site. Mitigation plans show how you’ll avoid, reduce or manage any negative effects to protected species.)

Yes we know it all sounds very dull and expensive, but it is all part of protecting the fantastic location we are guardians for.
